Melbourne-based outfit SIKANDER (Pradip Sarkar aka Docta Deep on beats and percussion, Jeremy Malcomson on electric sitar and guitar, Neil Cook aka
Nifty on sax, synthesizer and vocals) blends contemporary electronics with live sitar, saxophone, and vocals, into a groove-laden sonic spread. They draw their
influences from diverse genres and musical traditions ranging from Dubby analogue-era Rave and digital-age Bass cultures, psychedelic funk, Jazz, to leftfield Bollywood, Middle-Eastern folk, and African poly-rhythms. This is Post-World music – electronic re-interpretations of ancient rhythms and melodies for a digital-era dance floor. Look out for the onstage accompaniment from Oriental Dance choreographer Laura Entwined! Be Bewitched!
